The purpose of this Working Group is to develop industry positions that provide correct narratives where needed, in order to counter incorrect assessments and information promoted by other parties without necessarily taking into account aspects of the industry perspective. Such parties may promote positions regarding lighting product and system attributes, such as proposed quality and performance tiers, colour, lifetime, standby power and efficacy for common SSL applications and how they should be regulated.

It is often the case that when one country/region regulates a substance, others follow. The role of the Working Group is to manage the impact on the global lighting industry by addressing the scope of a potential restriction, concentration thresholds for restrictions, availability of exemptions and identification of the right transition timetable per region based on local specificities.
